XiL-BW-e

With the XiL-BW-e Laboratory Network Baden-Württemberg, a strong network for testing and research in the area of electric vehicles was founded. With a holistic approach, the collaboration of KIT, Ulm University, the University of Stuttgart as well as the universities of applied science in Aalen and Esslingen in the XiL-BW-e network is not only set up technically, but also in an organizational way. There will be two parts: the system testing and the battery analysis network. The system testing network enables the networking of expertise and infrastructure for system analysis up to the creation of spatially distributed joint X-in-the-Loop testing environments. The battery analysis network has its priority on the detailed investigation of interactions in a battery cell and their influence of their performance. By their combination, a significant added value is created for the research on electric mobility.

XiL-BW-e Laboratory Network offers completely new chances for components, software, and system testing for the network partners, but also for possible customers from industry. The collaboration is established within an organizational and legal framework, while the networking concept provides a safe and performant interconnection between the laboratories. This enables sharing of expertise for system analysis up to the creation of joint X-in-the-Loop testing environments. Various ideas on future research possibilities are elaborated and prepared for applications of project funding. This will be an on-going process, which is also open for new partners from science and industry.
